Nest News: Where Research, Practice & Connection Meet

Over the past year, Cardinal Direction has continued to grow through conversations, collaborations, and new opportunities to connect research with practice. Many of the best ideas have come from clients, colleagues, students, community partners, and friends who have challenged my thinking, shared their experiences, and opened the door to new possibilities.

That is the spirit behind Nest News, Cardinal Direction’s quarterly newsletter.

Each issue is designed to offer something useful—not simply an update on what I’ve been doing, but a place to share ideas, resources, and opportunities to connect.

Inside Nest News, you can expect:

  • Opportunities to collaborate on research, community-based projects, speaking engagements, and emerging initiatives.

  • Announcements about workshops, trainings, and professional development, including opportunities related to qualitative research, aging, social connection, and community engagement.

  • Practical resources and tools you can use in your own work.

  • Ideas and reflections from my writing, research, teaching, and community-based work.

  • Early looks at new projects and initiatives where there may be opportunities to participate, contribute, or partner.

  • Highlights from others doing thoughtful work across research, aging services, education, nonprofits, and community practice.

My hope is that Nest News becomes more than a Cardinal Direction newsletter. I want it to be a place where ideas can travel—where researchers, practitioners, educators, nonprofits, and community leaders can discover resources, find potential collaborators, and leave with something that sparks their next conversation or project.

And I hope it stays reciprocal. If you are working on something others should know about, have a resource worth sharing, or see an opportunity for us to collaborate, I want to hear from you.

Thank you for being part of this growing community. Whether we have worked together, collaborated on a project, crossed paths at a conference, or simply stayed connected over the years, I’m glad you’re here.
